In 5th grade, my teacher wrote on my report card “A fine girl, but too sensitive for her own good.” This comment was a result of the teacher hearing me crying because a fellow classmate was being picked on. My empathy for others has only grown since then. I have found myself drawn to different jobs/careers, in which caring for and about people was necessary. From teaching and coaching elementary and junior high students, to working 20 plus years helping children and adults with special needs, to ordained ministry which focused on helping women veterans, the poor, the hungry, the addicted, and the incarcerated, I have found that working to uplift others is the most rewarding work.
Last Spring, I looked around this country and saw so many hurt, angry, and fearful people. I decided I was willing to do what I could to help bring healing to these people. With God’s leading, I made the decision to run for Ohio House of Representatives.
Last year we watched our lawmakers in Columbus ignore the interests of Northeastern Stark County and the state of Ohio by setting up expensive and un-needed special elections, changing the ballot language on critical issues, refusing to enact laws WE VOTED ON, and putting up endless barriers to effective government. I want to bring INTEGRITY back to the Statehouse and actively represent our area with honesty and transparency. Ohio and the 48th District need and deserve a change!
